Valentine’s Day: Keeping Fit Is Sexy AND Romantic

Get to the gym, or I'll shoot!

Have you seen the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall?   Toward the end of the film Sarah Marshall and her ex, Peter are discussing what drove them apart and Sarah says “It got really hard taking care of you when you stopped taking care of yourself.”  Of course this is only a scene from a movie, but real-life woman, Stella B. says “I am “generally” attracted to guys who are very natural looking…being healthy is also a non-negotiable for me, which is both physical and mental/emotional.”

At first glance it may sound shallow, but statistically there is plenty of real information available to substantiate the claim that relationships simply work better when the couple stays physically attracted to each other longer and part of that attraction is visual.  There are many reasons for this effect.   In  this article concerning why couples may no longer be attracted to each other, it states “A woman not taking care of herself and (gaining) weight may subconsciously tell her husband that she no longer cares enough about him to look good for her man.”  Naturally, the opposite is also true for husbands who don’t take care of themselves.

The reasons for keeping fit are endless, but when you are fit and excited and engaged in a fitness program you are telling your partner: ‘I am excited about living and I want to have the best life possible.’  And that life includes them!  The best part is, there are so many paths to fitness that you can do together and this will ultimately also make your relationship better.

So today go for the card,

Nice pic of a couple ice skating together

These two have the right idea!

go for the flowers, heck, go for the candy if you want but go for a walk, go for a hike or even go ice skating: have some fun and be in love together.

Happy Valentine’s Day from Whyte Fitness.
